A behavior-support framework for small-group reading instruction in Grades 3–5

Engaged Learners helps students with reading and attention difficulties stay focused, on-task, and actively involved during small-group reading instruction, without adding burden to teachers or disrupting the flow of a lesson.

Developed through an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) grant and tested in multiple research studies, the framework is designed to fit within existing reading curricula. Teachers implement practical, low-intensity strategies that strengthen engagement and participation while supporting the instruction they are already delivering.
